Salt enhances the natural flavour of fish. Moreover, salt is used to preserve fish and improves the quality and appearance of the finished product. In fish packing, coarse salt is used to prevent the product from sticking and breaking.

Akzo Nobel offers a range of products for fish preparation, for both preservation and packing. We propose the following general guidelines and have special recommendations for specific uses:

  • A consistent particle-size distribution is required, free-flowing salt is ideally suited for silo use
  • To prevent undesirable reactions and safeguard flavour, the salt should be free of insolubles and impurities – this is guaranteed in all Azko Nobel products
